Homeownership Counseling

Fairmont-Morgantown Housing Authority offers homeownership counseling for any potential homeowner. Certified housing counselors are available to develop individual action plans to establish goals to help clients become mortgage ready. Housing Counseling sessions are free to clients.


Individual Housing Counseling

The Fairmont Housing Authority will provide individual housing counseling in a one-on-one setting with individuals interested in pursuing homeownership. During individual counseling, a credit report is pulled and reviewed, and credit repair/repayment plans are made. Individual family budgets are reviewed and benchmarks are slated for achieving the final goal of homeownership. The Fairmont Housing Authority will help clients in determining loan eligibility for a various loan products and programs. Counselors can assist in reviewing loan documents and pre-closing paperwork.

Individual Post Purchase Counseling

The Fairmont Housing Authority will provide individual post purchase counseling to any home buyer after purchase. Individual counseling sessions will be established based on home buyer need and will include review of family budget, maintaining personal finances, home repair, and any factors that may lead to delinquency.
