Homeownership Counseling
Fairmont/Morgantown Housing Authority offers homeownership counseling for any potential homeowner. Certified housing counselors are available to develop individual homeownership plans to establish goals and objectives to meet the need of the client.
Individual Housing Counseling
The Fairmont Housing Authority will provide individual housing counseling in a one-on-one setting with individuals interested in pursuing homeownership. During individual counseling, a credit report is pulled and reviewed, and credit repair/repayment plans are made. Individual family budgets are reviewed and benchmarks are slated for achieving the final goal of homeownership. Counselors can assist in reviewing loan documents and pre-closing paperwork.
Loan Eligibility and Pre-Application
The Fairmont Housing Authority will help clients in determining loan eligibility for a various loan products.
Individual Post Purchase Counseling
The Fairmont Housing Authority will provide individual post purchase education to any homebuyer after purchase. Individual counseling sessions will be established based on homebuyer need and will include review of family budget, maintaining personal finances, home repair, and any factors that may lead to delinquency.

After becoming Mortgage ready we recommend that you select a reputable realtor to help you with the house hunting process, the housing Authority may have houses for sell, we could provide you with a list of those houses available.
How do I get started in the home buying process?
By completing a profile that allows the Housing counselor to gather information, after the profile is received we will schedule a counseling appointment, pull your credit at the appointment your individual assessment will be completed and an action plan will be prepared.
